Im Senate President against the wishes of some powerful individuals - Saraki

Senate president Bukola Saraki insist he is being tried at the Code of Conduct Tribunal because he emerged senate president against the wishes of some powerful individuals. He said this while addressing members of the senate at their resumed session today September 29th.

"Distinguished Senators, I believe you have all followed with keen interest, my trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. I shall avoid discussing the details of that case here for obvious reasons. But let me say it again, that I am ready and will submit myself to the entire judicial process as provided by law.
Meanwhile, I wish to reiterate my remarks before the Tribunal, that I have no iota of doubt that I am on trial today because I am the president of the Nigerian Senate, against the wishes of some powerful individuals outside this Chambers. But what is clear to me also, is that the laws of Nigeria, and the rules of the National Assembly give consideration only to the wishes and desires of those of you who are here today as members of the Senate, to elect as you wish, one of your peers as President of the Senate. This, in your wisdom, is what you have done by electing me to be the first among all of you who are my equals. The laws of Nigeria do not give any consideration to any other forces outside the Senate in the election of its President. And to yield the ground on this note, is to be complicit in the subversion of democracy and its core principles of separation of powers as enshrined in our constitution. This is why we must once again, commend President Muhammadu Buhari, for refusing to interfere in the election of the National Assembly leadership even in the face of enormous pressures on him to do so. He has proven quite concretely that he is indeed a born-again democrat"he said

Police advise against posting personal acquisition on social media

It doesn't matter how much they warn...it's not going to stop! Showing off is the main purpose of instagram. Lol. A security expert and Lagos Police Command spokesperson, DSP Joseph Offor says showing off on social media is a security risk and would advice people to calm down on it.

"It's not advisable for anyone, whether you're a celebrity or not, to post your personal acquisitions on social media. Such a thing is very risky. And those doing that will only end up putting the police on their toes." He said

The much awaited ministerial list is yet to arrive the Senate. Senate President Bukola Saraki in his address this morning said the Senate is still waiting for the list

"As we await the list of ministerial nominees this week, I believe the presence of ministers will create the space for greater policy engagement with the Executive Arm of government and enable us to begin to respond in a more systematic manner to the various economic and social challenges before us, especially through our various Committees that will also be constituted soon.
On this note, I want to urge you all my colleagues to ensure that what is uppermost in our minds as we begin the constitutional task of screening of ministerial nominees is the overall interest of our country, informed by the enormity and the urgency of the challenges before us. Once the list is submitted, let us ensure that we treat it with dispatch. We must not be held down by unnecessary politicking. The enormity of our national challenges at this time does not give room for pettiness or politics of vendetta"he said

Nancy Lee Grahn Apologizes For Hate-Tweet Towards Viola Davis

As long as they realize they’ve done something wrong, we don’t have anything against celebs bashing their heads every now and then just to keep things more interesting. Famed soap star Nancy Lee Grahn didn’t have the highest of opinions on Viola Davis’ Emmy’s acceptance speech, and she wasn’t afraid to channel her inner drama queen.
When the talented Viola Davis went up to accept her award, she let out a whole whirl of emotions in her speech, which touched the hearts of many viewers.
However, Grahn wasn’t one of them. She tweeted “I wish I loved Viola Davis’ speech. But I thought she should have let Shonda Rhimes write it.”
Davis, who became the first black woman ever to win the Emmy for best Lead Actress in a Drama Series, poured her soul out in her speech when she said that “the only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is simply opportunity.” Davis continued with words of faith: “You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there. So here’s to all the writers, the awesome people — people who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be a leading woman, to be black.”
Grahn went a bit crazy about the whole thing, and shared her point of view by saying that she has been an actress for 40 years, and that “none of the actors get respect or opportunity they deserve.” She added that she thinks that Davis is “the elite of TV performers,” but that she has “never been discriminated against.”
After receiving a lot of backlash, Grahn apologized and said that she realized that she needs to “check her privilege.”

Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting, who stood for one of the loveliest celebrity couples, decided to end their marriage after just 21 months.
The shocking news was confirmed via a statement, which read that they have “mutually decided to end their relationship,” and they’re asking for “privacy at this time.” They also added that they won’t be making any further statements.
The famous Big Bang Theory actress and the famed tennis player have previously attempted to “kill” every single divorce speculation that was floating around the rumor mill ether lately, only to finally accept the situation and do what’s right.
The former couple got married on New Year’s Eve of 2013 in Southern California, after dating for only a couple of months. Their marriage was announced via Couco’s Instagram account. It seems that Instagram is definitely the actress’ platform of choice, as she also deleted a couple of Ryan’s pictures in midst of breakup speculations.
