Nigeria moves up in August FIFA rankings, now 6th in Africa



The Super Eagles of Nigeria have made progress in the August FIFA world rankings.
In the latest rankings released on Thursday by the world football governing body, the Super
Eagles cemented the 38th position from the previous 39th and sealing the sixth position in the  Africa.
Also on the progress list was Cameroon, whom Nigeria will play against in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month. The Indomitable Lion climbed one spot to 37th in the world and fifth on the continent.
Both teams will clash next month in crucial World Cup qualifiers.Nigeria will host them in Uyo on September 1 while Cameroon will host the Super Eagles in the second leg game in Yaounde three days later.
Meanwhile, Brazil returned to the top of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking just after one month, replacing the reigning FIFA World Cup champions Germany who slipped back into the second spot.
Argentina remains in third while the 4th position is secured by Switzerland with Poland surprisingly in 5th position.
